Measurement of plantar pressure during gait is not common among the methods adopted during diabetic treatment. However, high plantar pressure tends to increase the risk of developing foot ulcers in the diabetic population. Knowing when and where abnormal under-feet pressure occurs during the gait cycle is important in both podiatric care and orthotic treatment. Thus a comprehensive gait analysis is necessary as a systematic study of human locomotion.
Generally, human locomotion is a periodic movement of body parts and includes repetitive motions. The gait phase is used to help better understand the walking course identified by the gait analysis, it mainly plays a role in measuring and accessing the quantities of kinematic and kinetic parameters of human gait events. As a systematic study, it can be employed in rehabilitation, sport activities and health diagnosis.
